چکیده

Compared with bulk soil, rhizosphere has different properties because of the existence root mucilage, which affects physical, chemical, and microbial processes. The slow response to changes in water potential buffers content leads be wetter than soil during drying. By affecting connectivity liquid gas phases, mucilage can also influence solute transport diffusion. Overview literature previous models shows lack a model that describes between phases pore space wetting drying A major challenge is complex behavior, at low concentrations more like liquid, whereas higher concentration, dry becomes solid. In between, viscoelastic state observed where considered as hydrogel. this study three-dimensional pore-scale based on lattice spring method introduced used simulate two particles. capable reproducing spider-web-like structures are specific for mucilage. This qualitatively validated via environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) images glass beads. proposed may provide us new perspective hydrodynamic processes within rhizosphere. addition, help better understand further important strongly depend hydraulic dynamics, such transport, phase, penetration resistance, rhizosheath formation, activity.

Computational Upscaling of Inertia Effects from Porescale to Mesoscale

We propose algorithms for computational upscaling of flow from porescale (microscale) to lab scale (mesoscale). In particular, we solve Navier-Stokes equations in complex pore geometries and average their solutions to derive properties of flow relevant at lab scale such as permeability and inertia coefficients. We discuss two variants of traditional discretizations: a simple algorithm which wor...

Ccxcvi. Cress Seed Mucilage

THE dispersed cellulose component which is found in white mustard seed mucilage [Bailey and Norris, 1932] and in quince seed mucilage [Schmidt, 1844; Kirchner and Tollens, 1874; Renfrew and Cretcher, 1932] has now been obtained from the mucilage of cress seed, Lepidium sativum. The present communication, which deals mainly with the chemistry of this seed mucilage, falls into three sections: (1)...

Plant mucilages. XL. A representative mucilage, "Hibiscus-mucilage SF," from the flower buds of Hibiscus syriacus.

A representative mucilage, named Hibiscus-mucilage SF, was isolated from the white flower buds of Hibiscus syriacus L. It was homogeneous on electrophoresis and gel chromatography. Its intrinsic viscosity value in aqueous solution was 26.0. It is mainly composed of partially acetylated acidic polysaccharide of molecular weight 1050000, and is composed of L-rhamnose : D-galactose: D-galacturonic...

Numerical Simulation of Transport and Diffusion in Drainage Media

In this thesis we develop the numerical tools to simulate heat diffusion in a tissue domain (liver) with a pair of blood vessel trees, coupled with heat advection through these vessels. This problem arises as part of the simulation of radio-frequency ablation of tumors. We develop our methods for a two-dimensional geometry to keep testing and visualization simple while being able to focus on th...

The Mucilage of the Seed of White

IN comparison with the immense bibliographies of starch and cellulose for example, the literature of the gums and mucilages is scanty. This, doubtless, is due in part to the great commercial importance of the former, but a contributory cause may be sought in the practical difficulties involved in dealing with the latter. The gums Und mucilages are complex colloids which are not infrequently fou...
